How it works

How ordering made-to-measure steelwork works

Drawing to delivery, in six steps

Here is exactly what happens from your first message to the steel arriving on site, step by step, so you know what to expect and when.

How production is organised

Specialist plants, one point of responsibility.

Our production runs across our dedicated network of specialist plants, each doing one process at industrial scale.

We say so because it explains both the price and the capacity. We organise every job, send each step to the plant that does that process best, and there is always a machine free for it.

Who is responsible stays the same throughout. You have one contact and one company carrying the job, and every order is guaranteed.

  • Steel

Held in stock in known grades and bought at volume, so every job starts with the right material.

  • Cutting

Laser cutting runs at roughly 50 tonnes a day, with your parts cut alongside other work on the same sheets.

  • Forming & welding

Dedicated fabrication plants for bending, rolling, welding and assembly, with experienced, qualified welders.

  • Coating

Dedicated galvanising and powder-coating lines, working to a consistent coating thickness.

Every stage is checked before the work moves on — see how the work is checked.

    You send what you have

    5 minutes

A DXF, an engineer's drawing, a PDF or a photo with dimensions written on it. All of them work. If you only have rough sizes and a description, send those and we will tell you what else we need.

    • The quote form asks a few questions that depend on what you are ordering, so we have the right information from the start.
    • If something is missing we come back with one specific question rather than a list.
  2. 02

    We price it

    1–2 working days

You get an exact price and a lead time. Material, fabrication, finish and delivery to your postcode are all included in it.

    • Prices are based on current material costs and capacity, so the number reflects what the job costs now.
    • If a small design change would bring the price down, we say so.
  3. 03

    Drawings for approval

    2–4 days

Before anything is cut, you get fabrication drawings showing exactly what we intend to make. You sign them off.

    • This is where every detail is confirmed, so what is made is exactly what you approved.
    • Every fixing detail is confirmed with you before production starts.
  4. 04

    Into production

    Up to 2 weeks

Each operation, cutting, folding, welding and coating, goes to the plant that specialises in it.

    • Your parts are cut alongside other work on the same sheets, which keeps the material cost down.
    • You have one contact throughout, who can tell you where the job is at any point.
  5. 05

    Inspection & packing

    2–3 days

Dimensional check against the approved drawing, coating thickness spot-checked, piece count verified, then packed to our standard and photographed.

    • Euro pallets finished flat-topped so they stack; long fabrications on purpose-built long pallets, one job per pallet.
    • Labels on two opposite sides with project number, piece count and gross weight, so the delivery can be checked in without unwrapping it.
  6. 06

    Delivered to you

    Up to 1 week

Packed, loaded onto our regular delivery runs and brought to your yard or site.

    • Transport is arranged and paid for at our end. You get a delivery date and one contact for the whole journey.
    • The delivery day is agreed when you order and confirmed a few days before, so you can have someone ready to unload.
Fabricated assemblies being packed for delivery

Roughly four weeks, start to finish

For a typical order, from the day you send a drawing to the day it is on your site. Structural packages and very large runs take longer; small repeat batches on a product we already have drawings for can be considerably faster.

The one thing that moves the date most is how quickly approval drawings come back signed. That part is in your hands, and we will keep you posted so it stays on track.

Made this way

This is how we make railings & balustrades, gates, staircases and fencing & screens for private and trade buyers, and how metal fabrication, laser cutting service, sheet metal fabrication and bespoke metalwork work for workshops, fabricators and contractors.

Send us a drawing. Get a price.

Upload a DXF, a PDF drawing or a photo with dimensions scribbled on it. We will come back with an exact price and a lead time, usually within two working days.
